The $110,000 grant from Impact 100 of Northwest Florida has allowed Destin Harvest to make some major leaps. DH hired a full time driver to operate the new route in Fort Walton Beach and purchased a 20′ refrigerated truck designated for the route that services food pick ups from 10 retail food donors.

Feeding programs in Okaloosa and Walton County that Destin Harvest service are now far more efficient at mobilizing high volume food donations into the community. Destin Harvest awarded all eight feeding programs with reach-in coolers and freezers, stand alone coolers and freezers, and back-up generators. These programs are now reaching out to numerous smaller programs to appropriate foods for their program as DH’s food donations permit. DH receives at least six to eight pallets of produce daily. DH relies on anchor programs to receive high volume drops and to appropriate foods for numerous smaller programs within their network.
